What does it mean to be set apart by our hearts?

Examine our hearts.

Why do our children feel so much pain and suffering that they make a choice to take their classmates lives? (Proverbs 10:12) 40% of the 10 deadliest mass shootings in the U.S occurred at schools. In 2018, there have already been 17 shootings at schools and 24 fatalities.

Violence has a gender.

Why are men more likely to commit mass murder?  Each of the 20 deadliest mass shootings in the U.S. were committed by men.

Change our mindset to Kingdom first.

Am I a citizen of His Kingdom above all? We must believe and value the words of Jesus and the Bible more-so than the words of the Constitution. Do we hold laws written by man higher than we hold the standards God set before us? So often we put our own desires and rights before that of others. (Ephesians 4:17-32)

Examine each situation with Biblical discernment.

Lives are worth more than any material possession. The Bible is very clear about the seriousness of taking a life in self-defense (Exodus 22:2-3). We must use Biblical discernment if possessing a firearm as there is a very fine line between self-defense and murder. A weapon must only be used if your life or the life of another is in danger.

Set apart by our actions.

God calls us to be His hands and feet. To protect our friends, families, and those who are most vulnerable. We believe the right to bear arms can be crucial to doing so and should not be infringed. We also believe there is a great responsibility among those of us who bear arms to to ensure it is properly regulated. How can we honor God with our safeguards / regulation?
